Blow the Man Down is an English sea shanty,
The words ‘Blow the man down’ describe how a tall ship with it’s top sails set, can get blown over or capsized when a sudden gale hits the ship. Although, sails and rigging can be cut loose if a ship is only particially over, often the boat was lost to sea.
